Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Computing medial axis of a simple polygon in linear time based on R-L sequence
Medial axis computation has wide applications in pattern recognition, image processing, finite element mesh generation, and CNC tool path extraction. Aiming to explore intrinsic geometric attributes of the medial axis of a simple polygon which can be ...

Abstract The Upper Cretaceous São José do Rio Preto Formation (Bauru Group, southeastern Brazil) has yielded a fragmentary but taxonomically diverse record of titanosaur sauropods, although elements from cervical series remain scarce. Here, we describe a nearly complete sauropod axis from the Vila Ventura Paleontological Area, representing an uncommon ...

‘SOMS BrainSpace’: A digital serious game for undergraduate neuroscience
Abstract Neuroanatomy is challenging for many undergraduates, requiring strong visuospatial skills and a deep understanding of complex concepts. This study developed and evaluated SOMS BrainSpace, a digital serious game for neuroanatomy education, using a mixed methods approach.

Abstract The study of neuroanatomy is fundamental in many scientific fields. Despite this, it is a challenging subject for students. As technology evolves, it is being increasingly incorporated into educational methods, including the teaching of neuroanatomy. Three‐dimensional (3D) visualizations are well suited for displaying neuroanatomy.

Tetrahedral mesh Visible Monkey phantom for radiation dosimetry research
Although the Visible Monkey (VM) phantom in both voxel and polygon-mesh (PM) models was constructed based on anatomical color-sliced images of a rhesus monkey, the PM model advanced over the voxel model is not watertight, having various defects (e.g ...
