Robust design of flexible supply chains with mobile and modular facilities

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Modular manufacturing is increasingly being adopted by the chemical industry in applications where resource availability and product demand are highly distributed and uncertain. Modular plants are often built such that they can be easily relocated.

Electronic‐Free Particle Robots Communicate through Architected Tentacles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work introduces a new class of particle robots that communicate without any electronic components. Their communication protocols are encoded in the geometry of their tentacles are and realized solely through physical contact. Building on these simple communication schemes, electronic‐free particle robots can achieve a range of collective ...

Advancing Solid‐State Calcium Batteries: Achieving Fast Ionic Conductivity at Near Ambient Conditions in Calcium Hydridoborates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The addition of methylamine to calcium tetrahydridoborate enhances calcium ion conductivity significantly by increasing structural flexibility and void space as a function of increasing methylamine content. However, this results in decreasing mechanical stability.

Embracing Complexity: Peptides as Tunable Scaffolds in the Construction of Discrete Supramolecular Systems

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The inherent chirality, tunability, biocompatibility, and robustness of peptides provide an exciting opportunity for supramolecular chemistry. In this mini‐review, we explore uses of peptides in discrete supramolecular systems, how chemists can draw inspiration from larger biological assemblies, and discuss how embracing the complexity of peptide ...
