AbstractThermal denaturation and renaturation of directly mixed and reconstituted polylysine–DNA, directly mixed polylysine–nucleohistone complexes, and NaCl‐treated nucleohistones in 2.5 × 10−4 M EDTA, pH 8.0 have been studied. At the same input ratio of polylysine to DNA, the percent of renaturation of free base pairs in a directly mixed polylysine ...

Aminotransferase activity of thermal polylysine

Effect of Synthetic Polylysine on Fungi
Science, 1960The synthetic, basic poly-α-amino acid, polylysine, had antifungal activity against plant pathogens (three strains of fusaria, three isolates of verticillia, and Ceratocystis fimbriata ) and against the human pathogens ( Trichophyton mentagrophytes, T.

Polylysine supports electrofusion
Bioelectrochemistry and Bioenergetics, 1996Abstract A series of poly- l -lysine fractions (mean molecular masses M m from 3970 to 132 300) at extremely low concentrations in the nanomolar range were combined with dielectrophoresis and rectangular pulsation of barley protoplasts in order to support electrofusion of membranes.

Blocking Polylysines on Homemade Microarrays
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2019Homemade microarrays are printed on polylysine-coated slides. The lysines form a positively charged surface that can bind nonspecifically to the acidic nucleic acids during hybridization, resulting in significant background fluorescence. Thus, a key step in microarray processing is blocking all of the surface lysines not associated with the ...

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2015
AbstractEngineered culture substrates with chemical neurite guidance cues have been used for studying the mechanism of axon pathfinding at cellular level. In this study, we designed a novel poly‐l‐lysine (PLL) micropattern (“pinstripe micropattern”) to investigate how the same biomolecules with slightly different surface concentration can affect in ...

Stabilization of a lipid bilayer membrane by polylysine
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1972Abstract Black lipid bilayer membranes have become increasingly useful as models of natural cell membranes. A method has been devised whereby the stability of the black lipid bilayer can be vastly improved by the addition of a synthetic polypeptide.

Polylysine Copolymers for Gene Delivery
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2012Polylysine and its copolymers have been extensively used as nonviral polymeric gene carriers. Although polylysine on its own is toxic to cells, when polyethylene glycol is covalently linked to polylysine, toxicity is reduced and DNA transfection efficiency is increased. A degradable polylysine analog, polyaminobutyl glycolic acid, has been synthesized.

Promotion and inhibition of vesicle fusion by polylysine
Biochemistry, 1985Polylysine induced rapid aggregation of large unilamellar vesicles composed of phosphatidylcholine-cardiolipin (1:1 molar ratio) but not their fusion. Application of the terbium-dipicolinic acid fusion assay showed that addition of polylysine at nanomolar concentrations enabled a significant lowering of the Ca2+ threshold concentration for vesicle ...

Preparation of Adenovirus‐Polylysine‐DNA Complexes
Current Protocols in Human Genetics, 1996AbstractThis unit describes preparation of adenovirus‐polylysine‐DNA complexes, which is useful for transfection of DNA into a variety of cell types. A DNA complex is prepared with biotinylated adenovirus and streptavidin‐polylysine, coupled to transferrin, and used to transfect cells.
