Stress Relaxation in Polymer-Modified Bitumens

Colloid Journal, 2002
The efficiency of BNK-40/180 bitumen modification with a blended thermoelastoplast and its components is studied by measuring the kinetics of the stress relaxation in melts. Asphaltene agglomerates are disclosed to be the main kinetic units of the stress relaxation in bitumens and bitumen–polymer compositions.

Artificial aging of polymer modified bitumens

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2000
This paper presents an investigation of artificial aging of polymer modified binders, prepared from three base bitumens and six polymers. Aging of the binders was performed using the Thin Film Oven Test (TFOT), the Rolling Thin Film Oven Test (RTFOT), and modified RTFOT (MRTFOT).

Polymer Modified Bitumen

2001
The dynamic mechanical behaviour of bitumen (BIT)modifaed with styrene-butadiene-styrene bloc copolymer (SBS) were investigated. dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) were performed in the temperature range -100 to 100 C. The primary viscoelastic function were determined at the traffic frecuency, 5 Hz.

Thermal fatigue of polymer modified bitumen

Journal of Thermoplastic Composite Materials, 2011
Thermal fatigue is a serious distress in flexible pavement that reduces performance and durability. Many researchers have made efforts to understand the thermal fatigue phenomenology. Until now, there has not existed a standard test method for evaluating mixture and binder resistance to thermal fatigue.

Phase Separation of SBS Polymer Modified Bitumens

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 1999
Styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) polymer modified binders consist of two-phase (polymer-rich and asphaltene-rich) mixtures. This type of system is thermodynamically unstable, and a phase separation may occur under the influence of gravitational fields. In this study, the phase separation was determined by a hot storage test and characterized using the ...

Photocatalytic activity of neat and polymer-modified bitumen

Applied Materials Today, 2020
Abstract In recent years, the implementation of inorganic photocatalysts in road-paving materials has been explored as a promising solution for the degradation of volatile pollutants produced by both automotive vehicles and civil/industrial activities. However, this study shows that asphalt binders, an essential component of asphalt mixtures, already

CREEP&RECOVERY-POLYMER MODIFIED BITUMEN

2013
Rutting, defined as accumulated permanent deformation, is a common form of distress in asphalt pavements. Rutting failure leads to poor serviceability of the pavements, making vehicles ride rough and unsafe. The increasing demands of traffic on road building materials in recent years has led to the evaluation, development and use of a wide range of ...

Predicting Useful Lifetime of Polymer Modified Bitumen

2002
Predicting the stability of materials under constant load and the useful lifetime of materials for engineering application is of significant value. Creep studies are particuarly valuable for determining the long term properties of a material and its ability to withstand loading and deformation influences in use.

TERMOXIDATIVE AGING OF POLYMER MODIFIED BITUMEN

2014
Bitumen aging resulting in hardening of bitumens and embrittlement, both in application and in service, contributes greatly to the deterioration of paving application. Aging is a very complex process of bitumen ; BIT and the complexity increase when polymers are involved in polymer modified bitumens, PmBs.
