Controlled topological transitions in thin film phase separation [PDF]
In this paper the evolution of a binary mixture in a thin-film geometry with a wall at the top and bottom is considered. By bringing the mixture into its miscibility gap so that no spinodal decomposition occurs in the bulk, a slight energetic bias of the

Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Phase-field-crystal models for condensed matter dynamics on atomic length and diffusive time scales: an overview [PDF]
Here, we review the basic concepts and applications of the phase-field-crystal (PFC) method, which is one of the latest simulation methodologies in materials science for problems, where atomic- and microscales are tightly coupled. The PFC method operates

Interfacial adhesion of nanoparticles in polymer blends by intrinsic fluorescence spectra
Intrinsic fluorescence was applied to quantitatively describe the interfacial adhesion of nanoparticles in polystyrene/poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PS/PVME) blends. Due to the aggregation of aromatic rings on PS chains, the temperature dependence of excimer

Utilization of Poly(methyl Methacrylate) Rejection Blended with Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Resins and the Effect on Product Properties [PDF]
PMMA is one of the main raw materials for the injection molding process in the lens industries. Since this process requires extremely careful techniques to obtain lens with the best quality, it leads to a high rate of product rejection.

Backbone Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Efficient Sacrificial Hydrogen Production
Herein, a ‘single‐component’ organic semiconductor photocatalyst is presented in which a molecular donor is bonded to a polymer acceptor. The resultant material demonstrates exceptional photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in aqueous triethylamine with an outstanding external quantum efficiency of 38% at 420 nm.
