Unexpected stability of aqueous dispersions of raspberry-like colloids

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
The ability to stabilise colloidal suspensions in solution against salt-induced aggregation is critical to many industrial applications, but it remains challenging at high salt concentration. To overcome this problem, Lan et al.

Effect of Water Aging on the Mechanical Properties of Hybrid Carbon/Aramid Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the mechanical properties of Carbon/Aramid intraply hybrid fiber‐reinforced Elium composites under 6 months of water aging. After aging, flexural strength decreases by 25.89%, tensile strength by 4.40%, and fracture toughness by 21.56%.

Influence of Temperature on Scratch and Wear Properties of Technical Thermoplastics: Implications for Material Selection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The share of technical thermoplastics is expected to grow further in the e‐mobility segment. In this study, a detailed temperature‐based tribological characterization of technical thermoplastics is performed. The tribological properties are discussed in terms of the dynamic mechanical properties of polymers at different ambient temperatures. A proof of

Surface Chemistry of Polymers

open access: yesKobunshi, 1968

Graphene–Catechol Dental Sealant: Antibacterial and Mechanical Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents dental sealants made with graphene and L‐DOPA‐modified graphene. L‐DOPA enhances graphene dispersion, improving sealant properties. The material shows antibacterial activity against S. mutans and L. casei, along with high strength and elasticity.
