The effects of temperature, feed ratio, and reaction time on the properties of copolymer PLA-PEG-PLA

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Science, Technology and Engineering, 2019
Triblock copolymers were polymerised by the ringopening reaction of D,L-lactide in the presence of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), with number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 1500 and 2050 g/mol, using Sn(Oct)2 as a catalyst.

Homogenization in magnetic-shape-memory polymer composites

open access: yes, 2017
Magnetic-shape-memory materials (e.g. specific NiMnGa alloys) react with a large change of shape to the presence of an external magnetic field. As an alternative for the difficult to manifacture single crystal of these alloys we study composite materials

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Non destructive examination of composite structures using dielectric examination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Dielectric measurements are widely used in the laboratory to probe the dynamics of molecules, particularly the dynamics of polymer molecules. The dielectric technique exploits the fact that many molecules, although electrically neutral posses an ...

Positive Synergistic Effects on Vulcanization, Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Using Deep Eutectic Solvent in Natural Rubber Vulcanizates

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2021
Deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on choline chloride and urea reaction was synthesized. As the DES, ChCl-urea (DES) and aZnO-dissolved ChCl-urea (mDES) were added to natural rubber (NR) and epoxidized NR (ENR).

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Ingested microplastics: Do humans eat one credit card per week?

open access: yesJournal of Hazardous Materials Letters, 2022
Ingested Microplastic (MP) particles can harm the human body. Estimations of the total mass of ingested MP particles correspond to 50 plastic bags per year (Bai et al., 2022), one credit card per week (Gruber et al., 2022), or a median value of 4.1▒μg ...
