Rigorous Electromagnetic Quasinormal‐Mode Method Made Easy for Users

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
We present a method that combines numerical techniques with accurate approximations to enable simple and ultrafast computations of the scattered field based on quasinormal modes expansions. The method is made available in the open‐source package MANlite implemented within COMSOL.

Assessing microplastic pollution in marine mammals: evidence from three cetacean species in the southeastern Black Sea

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Microplastic (MP) pollution has emerged as a pervasive environmental threat, with growing evidence of its accumulation across various marine trophic levels, including top predators such as cetaceans.

Quantifying the Effects of Spatial Inhomogeneity in an Autoclave LDPE Reactor Using CFD

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
A CFD simulation incorporating rigorous polymerization chemistry into a plant‐scale sliding mesh reactor with multiple PID controllers revealed axial flow patterns that segment the reactor into smaller compartments with different properties. More evident differences exist between the mixture within the agitator shaft swept volume and that outside of ...

Tribological measurements on a Charnley-type artificial hip joint [PDF]

open access: yes
A total hip simulator was used to determine the friction and wear properties of Charnley-type (316L stainless steel balls and sterile ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene cups) hip prostheses.

Effect of Variations in the Ring Thickness on the Dynamic Performance of the Bimetal Gears

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study used a six‐degrees‐of‐freedom dynamic model to analyze the dynamic response of bimetal spur gears. Aluminum alloy forms the core of the bimetal gears, and a uniform‐thickness steel ring surrounds the teeth. Gear mesh stiffness of bimetal gears and the transmission error have been assessed using a numerical approach based on finite ...

Study on the meshing surface temperature field of polymer gears under different operating conditions

open access: yesJixie chuandong
ObjectivePolymer gears are widely used due to their lightweight, corrosion resistance, and noise reduction properties. However, their thermal behavior during meshing under complex operating conditions remains insufficiently understood. This study aims to
