Two-Bit Gates are Universal for Quantum Computation

open access: yes, 1994
A proof is given, which relies on the commutator algebra of the unitary Lie groups, that quantum gates operating on just two bits at a time are sufficient to construct a general quantum circuit.

Study on Liquid Crystal-Polymer Gears.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1995
Attention has been paid to liquid-crystal polymers (hereinafter called LCP) as plastics of the next generation since these have features of high rigidity and small thermal expansion coefficient in addition to excellent heat resistance. Accordingly, in industry, application of LCP to gear materials has been attempted, but at present, data for ...

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

A review on failure characteristics of polymer gear

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Polymer are now widely used as substitute material for steel gear in low load devices. Its failure differs from gears made of steel, thus it is important to categorize the failures shown by polymer gears.

Melt Electrowriting High Resolution Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work pioneers melt electrowriting (MEW) of polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) to fabricate ultra‐compliant, high‐resolution scaffolds. By integrating microscale precision with soft tissue‐like biomechanics, PEVA overcomes stiffness‐driven limitations of conventional MEW polymers, establishing a mechanically biomimetic platform for soft tissue ...
