Dependence of optical attenuation on radiation wavelength and waveguide geometry in copper-coated optical fibers [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2020
We demonstrate a novel approach to the determination of optical loss coefficients in metal-coated fibers in a 0.4-1.9 μm wavelength range. It is based on measuring the change of temperature-dependent electrical resistance of the metal coating caused by ...

Study of the physico-chemical characteristics of reinforced composite polymer materials [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
One of the important properties of reinforced composite polymer materials is their physico-chemical properties. Their structure plays an important role in assessing the physico-chemical properties of composite materials.

Fabrication of polymer-SiO2 nanocomposite optical fibers with a new method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanostructures, 2019
At first step polymer optical fibers (POFs) are used in short distance for optical data transmissions. At second step SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by sonochemical-assisted method.

Measurements of stress-optic coefficient in polymer optical fibers [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2010
We have systematically measured the differential stress-optic coefficient, DeltaC, in a number of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) fibers drawn with different stress, ranging from 2 up to 27 MPa. DeltaC was determined in transverse illumination by measuring the dependence of birefringence on additional axial stress applied to the fiber.

Luminescent solar concentrators based on melt-spun polymer optical fibers

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) collect incoming sunlight and direct it to a smaller-area photovoltaic cell. In the presented work, form factor and illumination angle-dependent performance of LSCs consisting of bi-component melt-spun fibers is ...
