Optical Waveguiding in Poled NLO Polymers
MRS Proceedings, 1991ABSTRACTFor potential optoelectronic applications, new polymeric thin films containing nonlinear optical chromophores aligned by electric field poling for a χ(2) nonlinear optical response have been prepared and studied.

High index contrast polymer optical waveguides
2010 IEEE 26-th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2010We report on a platform of polymer wave-guiding materials with properties amenable to subsequent doping with Semi-Conductor (SC) nanocrystals (NC). In this work we present the design of passive optical devices constructed with the polymer platform, its fabrication and characterization.

Polymer waveguide couplers based on metal nanoparticle–polymer nanocomposites
Nanotechnology, 2015In this work Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) are incorporated into poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) waveguides to develop optical couplers that are compatible with planar organic polymer photonics. A method for growing AuNPs (of 10 to 100 nm in size) inside the commercially available Novolak resist is proposed with the intention of tuning the plasmon ...

Adiabatic polymer-glass-waveguide all-optical switch
Applied Optics, 1994We propose an adiabatic all-optical switch that is composed of an asymmetric Y-branch ion-exchanged glass waveguide with a strip of nonlinear polymer loaded on top of one branch. The properties of nonlinear wave propagation in the device are investigated in detail.

Polymer Waveguide Fabrication Techniques
SPIE Proceedings, 1985The ability of integrated optic systems to compete in signal processing aplications with more traditional analog and digital electronic systems is discussed. The Acousto-Optic Spectrum Analyzer is an example which motivated the particular work discussed herein. Provided real time processing is more critical than absolute accuracy, such integrated optic

Polymer photonic crystal slab waveguides
SPIE Proceedings, 2001Finite two-dimensional (2d) polymer photonic crystal (PC) slab waveguides were fabricated from a benzocyclobutene polymer on a low refractive index substrate from Teflon. Square and triangular air hole lattices were realized by electron beam lithography and reactive ion etching.

Polymer waveguides and device applications
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2004We have developed highly robust polymers derived from liquid multifunctional acrylate monomers that produce waveguides that offer propagation losses equivalent to planar silica guides. This materials technology enables a variety of high performance thermo-optic devices.

Active polymer glass hybrid waveguides
Materials Science and Engineering: C, 1999Abstract A hybrid bidirectional photonic device is realized with a Mach–Zehnder interferometer structure in a passive glass waveguide by arrangement of polymer–metal layer system as active cover. The hybrid waveguide takes the advantage of the good optical properties in glass waveguides together with the active electrical and nonlinear optical ...

Electro-Optic Polymer Waveguide Devices
SPIE Proceedings, 1989The promise of organic and polymeric materials for electro-optic and nonlinear optic applications has been advanced a great deal in recent years. This interest arises from the fact that successful molecular design has produced materials with useful nonlinear susceptibilities while maintaining compliant structural, mechanical, and processing properties"

Optofluidic silicon-polymer integrated waveguides
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics 2012, 2012In this paper the design and the optical characterization of hybrid ARROW waveguide with a top layer of polydimethysiloxane (PDMS) is presented. The structure has been simulated and the results compared with the experimental one.
