Actuating and Sensing Composites of Liquid Crystal Elastomers and Poly(ionic liquid)s

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conductive, mechanically tough, flexible, and stretchable filaments of a composite material comprising a liquid crystal elastomer and a poly(ionic liquid) are produced through 3D printing, which exhibit large actuation strain under stimulation and electrical resistance variation in response to deformation or environmental condition changes. Their

Improving rate performance of FeC2O4/rGO composites on lithium storage via single-polymerization‐induced electrostatic self‐assembly

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications
Based on the wide interlayer distance for ions diffusion, iron (II) oxalate exhibits excellent lithium storage ability. However, the local deposition of metallic nanoparticles of Fe0 leads to low electrochemical reactivity, which hinders the actual ...

Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Photogeneration of Hydrogen in Water via Self‐Assembly‐Induced Colloidal Covalent Organic Framework Particles

open access: yesSmall Science
The synthesis of colloidal imine‐linked Covalent Organic Framework nanoparticles using a polymeric growth‐blocking agent that facilitates both in situ colloidal stabilization and size control. This new surfactant‐free method, called Self‐Assembly‐Induced

4D‐Printed Magneto‐Plasmonic Microrobots for Programmable Spatiotemporal De‐Icing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 4D‐printing strategy is introduced to achieve programmable de‐icing devices. By aligning gold–magnetite nanofillers within a photosensitive resin, the printed structures exhibit dual magnetic and plasmonic functionalities, enabling precise spatio‐temporal ice removal through thermoplasmonic effects.

Controlled Synthesis and Crystallization-Driven Self-Assembly of Poly(ε-caprolactone)-b-polysarcosine Block Copolymers

open access: yesMolecules
Poly(ε-caprolactone)-b-polysarcosine (PCL-b-PSar) block copolymers (BCPs) emerge as a promising alternative to conventional poly(ε-caprolactone)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) BCPs for biomedical applications, leveraging superior biocompatibility and ...

An Engineered Living Material With Pro‐Angiogenic Activity Inducible by Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
NIR‐responsive engineered living materials (ELMs) for controlled angiogenesis: Near‐infrared (800 nm) light activates engineered probiotic bacteria within alginate‐based living materials to secrete a blood vessel‐regenerating protein. The released protein promotes pro‐angiogenic effects in endothelial networks and chick chorioallantoic membranes.

Light Activated Induction of Cuproptosis in Resistant Cancer Cells Using Polymeric BODIPY Nanoparticles for Photoactivated Chemotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a photo‐responsive nanoparticle platform that precisely triggers copper‐dependent cuproptotic cell death in (drug‐resistant) cancer cells. The system remains stable and inactive in the dark but releases cytotoxic species upon red‐light irradiation, achieving potent activity in drug‐resistant breast cancer cells.
