Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Metal Catalyzed Polymerization of Cyclic Olefins

open access: yes, 2007
We have been interested in polymerization of cyclic olefins using transition metal catalysts. Two important polymerization fashions have been studied, ring opening metathesis polymerization and coordination insertion polymerization.

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Effects of enchained ester groups on the living carbocationic polymerization of vinyl ethers

open access: yes
A series of chloro - substituted 4-(ethenyloxy)butyl benzoate and acetate monomers were polymerized in toluene at -20 and 4o C using an HCl etherate / ethylaluminum dichloride (EtAlCl2) initiator system in the presence and absence of an externally added ...
