Polymerization shrinkage for a novel dental composite with polymeric matrix

2005
Novel composite materials based on polymer matrix with inorganic filler have been synthesized and characterized in order to evaluate their potential application in dentistry, as restorative materials. Since the polymerization shrinkage (PS) that occurs in the matrix phase is one of the most commonly cited deficiencies of dental restorative composites ...

Resin Composites And Polymerization Shrinkage

The introduction of resin-based dental materials around the middle of the previous century was a revolution in restorative dentistry. Dental composites are esthetically pleasing materials however they still have several shortcomings that limit their applications.

[Polymerization shrinkage of light-hardened composites].

Zahn-, Mund-, und Kieferheilkunde mit Zentralblatt, 1991
The absolute values of polymerization shrinkage and its time-dependent course were measured for commercially available visible-light-cured composite resins and for composite still under development. About the curing rate of the composites were discussed the influences of the fillers and of the amount of the photoinitiator in the organic matrix.

Photoelastic determination of polymerization shrinkage stress in low-shrinkage resin composites.

Schweizer Monatsschrift fur Zahnmedizin = Revue mensuelle suisse d'odonto-stomatologie = Rivista mensile svizzera di odontologia e stomatologia, 2012
Low-shrinkage resin composites are in the focus of research in posterior resin composite restoratives. The aim of the study was to examine the polymerization shrinkage stress of new composites (Venus Diamond/ Heraeus Kulzer; SDR/DENTSPLY) and an experimental low-shrinkage resin composite (Ormocer/VOCO) in comparison to established low-shrinkage resin ...

Microscopic and macroscopic modelling of polymerization shrinkage

2007
During polymerization of monomers into polymer chains a reduction in volume is observed. Shrinkage may cause internal stresses and strains of a final product. It makes some difficulties in technical applications of polymers, especially in dentistry and stereolithography.

polymerization stress and shrinkage of dental composites

2011
This study intends to look into the relations between polymerization shrinkage and polymerization stress. The results of the series of experiments leading to this study have been contrasted. The correlation of mechanical stresses arising from the process of polymerization within the composites and the simultaneous contraction of the filling materials ...
