Antiviral Activity of Polyacrylic and Polymethacrylic Acids [PDF]
Polyacrylic acid (PAA) and polymethacrylic acid (PMAA) were investigated for their antiviral properties in tissue culture. Compared to other related polyanions, as dextran sulfate, polystyrene sulfonate, polyvinyl sulfate, and polyphloroglucinol phosphate, PAA and PMAA were found to be significantly more antivirally active and less cytotoxic.

Sorption of Heavy Metal Ions by Composite Materials Based on Polycarboxylic Acids and Bentonite Clay
The paper shows the study results of sorption capacities of composite gels based on polyacrylic and polymethacrylic acids with bentonite clay as the mineral filler concerning heavy metal ions (Pb+2, Cu+2, Ni+2, Zn+2, Fe+2, Cd+2).

Potentiometric titrations of polymethacrylic acid [PDF]
AbstractPotentiometric titrations of polymethacrylic acid were performed at different concentrations, different molecular weights, and in the presence of neutral salts, as well as in dioxane‐water mixtures. It was shown that the pH of the solutions fulfills the relation, pH = pK — n log [(1 — α)/α].

Influence of nature and macromolecular characteristics of carrier polymer on immobilization of bolaform ions [PDF]
The study of the interactions of polyelectrolytes with organic ions and especially with ions of physiologically active substances is of particular. There are wide ranges of polymers used for these purposes, the most convenient “substrate” is considered ...

Controlled radical fluorination of poly(meth)acrylic acids in aqueous solution
Fluorinated alkenes have very poor reactivity in copolymerizations with non-fluorinated polar monomers. Here the authors show silver-catalyzed decarboxylative radical fluorination of poly(acrylic acid) with Selectfluor in water at room temperature to ...

POLYMETHACRYLIC ACID: INDUCTION OF LYMPHOCYTOSIS AND TISSUE DISTRIBUTION
AbstractPolymethacrylic acid (PMAA) induces up to a three‐fold increase in the lymphocyte population of peripheral blood in rats, goats and calves after intravenous administration. Other routes of administration are less effective. A maximum lymphocytosis is achieved after 3 hr with all doses in excess of 30 mg PMAA/kg body weight; over the next few ...

Study of immobilization of bolaform ions on polymethacrylic acid
The study of the interactions of polyelectrolytes with organic ions, in particular bolaform ions, that is, having a mirror conformational chemical structural symmetry with respect to the centre of the molecule and exhibiting physiological activity, is particularly intriguing due to its potential for simulating biological processes and its implications ...
