Polymethacrylic acid functions as a protective colloid in the emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate, particularly in combination with anionic-nonionic surfactants. The combination of polymethacrylic acid and a nonylphenolethoxylate ester of phosphoric acid gives high-solids latex which shows excellent stability to mechanical shear and reezing-and ...

The decay of radicals in esters of polymethacrylic acid
European Polymer Journal, 1969Abstract Free radicals produced by mechanical destruction of polymethylmethacrylate, polyethyl-methacrylate, polybutylmethacrylate and polyallylmethacrylate has been studied by the ESR method. The radicals decay in two temperature ranges around −40° and 50° (or + 5°).

Spectrophotometric titration of polymethacrylic acid
Journal of Polymer Science Part C: Polymer Symposia, 1967AbstractOptical density measurements were performed on aqueous solutions of polymethacrylic acid (PMA) at different degrees of neutralization with NaOH, both in the presence and absence of added Na2SO4; the wavelength region studied was 188–250 mμ. The data could be consistently interpreted in terms of an equilibrium between two conformational states ...

PHOTOLYSIS OF POLYMETHACRYLIC ACID IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS
Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1964The photolysis of polymethacrylic acid was studied in aqueous solutions as a function of pH, polymer concentration, polymer chain length, and small additions of electrolytes in the absence of oxygen with light of wavelength 2537 Å. The random chain scission constants decrease with increasing pH values.

Laser Raman Spectra of Polymethacrylic Acid
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1969Laser-excited Raman spectra are reported for polymethacrylic acid as a solid, an aqueous gel, and a strongly alkaline aqueous gel. The spectrum of the neutral gel is identical with that of the solid, although alkalization produces some changes. The spectra are analyzed in terms of changes in chain configuration.

Lymphocytosis induced by polymethacrylic acid. Dose-effect and toxicity
Blut Zeitschrift für die Gesamte Blutforschung, 1975Intravenous polymethacrylic acid (PMAA) significantly increases the number of lymphocytes in the blood of the rat. The relationship between dose-effect and lymphocytosis is linear. The lethal dose in 30 days of PMAA is 120 mg/kg b.w. and the half-lethal dose 80 mg/kg b.w. The treatment with 40 mg/kg b.w.

Modification of track membranes with grafted polymethacrylic acid
Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry, 2014Track membranes modified by the irradiation-chemical method with polymethacrylic acid were studied. Grafted chains of polymethacrylic acid were impregnated with silver ions. The optimal parameters and conditions of the post-irradiation grafting of methacrylic acid were determined.

Complex formation between polymethacrylic acid and polyacrylamide
Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1982Abstract Complex formation between polymethacrylic acid and polyacrylamide in aqueous solutions has been investigated by IR-spectroscopy and elemental analysis, and by viscometry and potentiometric titration. It is shown that, in terms of units of the polymeric components, a complex product of equimolar composition is obtained.

Synthesis of graft copolymers of polycaproamide with polymethacrylic acid
Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1987The modification of polycaproamide fibres by graft polymerization of methacrylic acid in the presence of the K2S2O8Na2S2O8 redox system and copper ions is studied. A connection is established between the amount of monomer sorbed on the polymer base and the kinetics of the graft polymerization reaction.
