Fabrication of a capillary immunosensor in polymethyl methacrylate

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2002
A method for fabricating capillary-based immunosensors in a coupon milled from an inexpensive, commodity plastic (PMMA, plexiglass) is demonstrated. The key feature of the technique is the use of sol-gel technology to deposit a glass-like (Si [bond] OH) film on surfaces of the plastic capillary channels to facilitate antibody immobilization.

Polymethyl Methacrylate Induced Pulmonary Embolism

Heart, Lung and Circulation, 2014
A 61-year-old female with renal cell carcinoma and metastasis to lumbar vertebrae, underwent vertebroplasty for the augmentation of the vertebral bodies with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in an attempt to control pain. The patient remained stable during the procedure.

Phase holograms in polymethyl methacrylate

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 1992
Complex computer generated phase holograms (CGPHs) have been fabricated in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) by partial exposure and subsequent partial development. The CGPH was encoded as a sequence of phase delay pixels and written by e-beam (JEOL JBX-5DII), a different dose being assigned to each value of phase delay.

Notch sensitivity of polymethyl methacrylate

Polymer Mechanics, 1973
It is shown that acrylics have a notch sensitivity determined by the nature of the state of stress produced by the loading.

Hot embossing on polymethyl methacrylate

2006 8th Electronics Packaging Technology Conference, 2006
Micro hot embossing experiments were conducted on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to look at the effects of holding load, temperature and time on the fidelity of line arrays representing micro channels. The results revealed that the holding temperature was a more sensitive parameter than the others due to its large effect on the polymer's viscoelastic ...

Thermodynamic properties of polymethyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1963
AbstractFrom published data the entropy, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) have been calculated over the temperature range 0–260°K. These functions have also been calculated for methyl methacrylate over the range 0–210°K. The entropy of polymerization at 210°K. was found to be 9.63 cal./mole°K.

Optical limiting with C_60 in polymethyl methacrylate

Optics Letters, 1993
We demonstrate optical limiting for the C(60) fullerene in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as a solid polymer host. It is shown that the optical-limiting behavior is consistent with excited-state absorption (reverse saturable absorption) as a mechanism. We suggest that a higher threshold for optical limiting compared with that of C(60) in toluene is due

Model predictive quality control of Polymethyl methacrylate

2013 American Control Conference, 2013
This work considers the production of Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to achieve target quality variables such as number and weight average molecular weights. A dynamic multiple-model based approach is first used to capture the process dynamics using data generated from a detailed first principles model.

Dimensional accuracy of thermoformed polymethyl methacrylate

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1996
Thermoforming of polymethyl methacrylate sheet is used to produce a number of different types of dental appliances. The purpose of this study was to determine the dimensional accuracy of thermoformed polymethyl methacrylate specimens. Five blanks of the acrylic resin were thermoformed on stone casts prepared from a silicone mold of a brass master die ...
