Abstract Purpose Evidence regarding the cytotoxicity of 3D‐printed denture base resins and the role of degree of conversion remains limited and heterogeneous. Therefore, this scoping review aimed to map existing in vitro evidence and explore how degree of conversion and post‐processing factors are reported in relation to biological outcomes.

The role of polymethylmethacrylate bone cement in modern orthopaedic surgery
Polymethylmethacrylate remains one of the most enduring materials in orthopaedic surgery. It has a central role in the success of total joint replacement and is also used in newer techniques such as percutaneous vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty.

Lymphocyte response to polymethylmethacrylate in loose total hip prostheses
We investigated the lymphocyte-mediated immune response to polymethylmethacrylate bone cement in 26 patients who had revision surgery for aseptic loosening of cemented total hip arthroplasties, at a mean time of seven years after the first replacement ...

Comparison of tooth fracture load between different conventional and CAD‐CAM denture base materials
Abstract Purpose To assess the fracture load at the tooth‐denture base interface in dentures fabricated using three different production methods: compression mold, computer‐aided design and computer‐aided manufacturing (CAD‐CAM) milled (monolithic and bonded), and 3D‐ printed dentures (monolithic and bonded).

Adjustment of CAD–CAM crowns with and without a 3D‐printed model: Comparative study of marginal fit
Abstract Purpose This study evaluated and compared the marginal fit of CAD–CAM zirconia crown copings with and without a 3D‐printed control model. Materials and Methods This prospective in vitro trial involved 30 zirconia crown copings made from the same STL file. These were divided into two groups.

On the environmental fracture of polymethylmethacrylate [PDF]
Crack propagation of PMMA in some liquid environments is described for various testing conditions, such as fixed load, fixed displacement and monotonically increasing displacement. Fracture mechanics concepts have been used successfully in analysing the results.
