Characteristic odor components in the essential oil from yacón tubers (Polymnia sonchifoliaPoepp. et Endl.)

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 2008
Abstract The composition of the essential oil from yacon tubers (Polymnia sonchifolia) was analyzed by capillary GC and GC/MS. Sixty-one components, representing 97.7% of the total oil were identified. The main constituents of the oil were α-pinene (33.5%), neo-abienol (15.7%), cis-abienol (15.4%), trans-abienol (7.0%) and 8,12-epoxy-14-labden-13-ol (2.

Fructosyl transferase and hydrolase activities in rhizophores and tuberous roots upon growth of Polymnia sonchifolia (Asteraceae)

Physiologia Plantarum, 2002
The underground reserve organs of yacon (Polymnia sonchifolia Poep. Endl.), similarly to other economically important Asteraceae, accumulate more than 60%, on a DW basis, of inulin type β(2‐1) fructans, mainly oligomers (GF2–GF16). Although sucrose:sucrose 1‐fructosyl transferase (1‐SST), fructan:fructan 1‐fructosyl transferase (1‐FFT) and fructan 1 ...

Predominant Epiphytic Bacteria on DamagedPolymnia sonchifoliaLeaves, and Their Metabolic Properties on Phenolics of Plant Origin

Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 1994
The epiphytic microfloral population on damaged and non-damaged leaf surfaces of Polymnia sonchifolia (Compositae) was examined, and metabolic properties of microbes predominant on the damaged leaves were studied. On the damaged leaf surface, some epiphytic Gram-negative bacteria able to metabolize phenolic compounds of plant origin were highly ...

MORPHOTYPE OF YACON POLYMNIA SONCHIFOLIA INTRODUCED TO THE CONDITIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH OSSETIA-ALANIA

Proceedings of Gorsky State Agrarian University
Analysis of the bioresource potential of the Polymnia sonchifolia yacon in the conditions of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania is relevant because it will allow using it for introduction into culture in the conditions of the region, to expand the range of plants with a biologically active complex of substances.
