Non-additive genetic variation is usually ignored when genome-wide markers are used to study the genetic architecture and genomic prediction of complex traits in human, wild life, model organisms or farm animals. However, non-additive genetic effects may

Characterizations of the expanse of processes parameter combinations that can be used to minimize cracking and porosity while optimizing crystallization and hardness are used to assess laser processing of four glass‐forming alloys. The set of viable alloys for laser additive manufacturing is not the same as for suction casting; some alloys are common ...

Inferring Species Trees Directly from Biallelic Genetic Markers: Bypassing Gene Trees in a Full Coalescent Analysis [PDF]
The multi-species coalescent provides an elegant theoretical framework for estimating species trees and species demographics from genetic markers. Practical applications of the multi-species coalescent model are, however, limited by the need to integrate or sample over all gene trees possible for each genetic marker.

Crosstalk based Fine-Grained Reconfiguration Techniques for Polymorphic Circuits [PDF]
Truly polymorphic circuits, whose functionality/circuit behavior can be altered using a control variable, can provide tremendous benefits in multi-functional system design and resource sharing. For secure and fault tolerant hardware designs these can be crucial as well.

Footprints of ancient balanced polymorphisms in genetic variation data [PDF]
When long-lived, balancing selection can lead to trans-species polymorphisms that are shared by two or more species identical by descent. In this case, the gene genealogies at the selected sites cluster by allele instead of by species and, because of linkage, nearby neutral sites also have unusual genealogies.
