Thymomassoziierte Polymyositis
Der Nervenarzt, 2009Neuromuscular diseases accompanying thymoma include myasthenia gravis, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, and neuromyotonia. Usually 50% of patients with thymoma develop myasthenia gravis. However, only 5% show polymyositis as an accompanying paraneoplastic phenomenon.

AUTOANTIBODIES IN POLYMYOSITIS
Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North America, 1992A group of autoantibodies have been identified that are found almost exclusively in patients with polymyositis and dermatomyositis (myositis-specific antibodies). Most have been associated with characteristic clinical subgroups. Five of the myositis-specific antibodies are directed at aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases and have been associated with a similar ...

A nine year old boy who showed the clinical picture of polymyositis with marked weakness was found to have a toxoplasma dye-test titre of 1/16,000, which had had fallen to 1/1024 nine months later. He made a complete recovery without specific treatment. Muscle biopsy done after the acute phase was normal. It seems probable that the polymyositis was due

Polymyositis with vesical dysfunction
Urology, 1973Abstract A case of bladder dysfunction secondary to polymyositis is presented. The findings from the pyelogram, cystoscopy, bladder biopsy, electromyogram, and cystometrogram support this diagnosis. The patient responded favorably to corticosteroid therapy and surgical enlargement of the bladder outlet.

ECG Abnormalities in Polymyositis
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1984Electrocardiographic abnormalities were found in 25 (32.5%) of 77 patients with polymyositis. Left anterior hemiblock (13.0%) and right bundle-branch block (9.1%) were the most common abnormalities. No association could be found between these defects and clinical activity of polymyositis, severity of duration of disease, or degree of creatine kinase ...

Myasthenic Syndrome in Polymyositis
European Neurology, 1976The case report of a 23-year-old man with polymyositis and some myasthenic features is presented. The biopsy findings suggest a preferential involvement of the neuromuscular junctions by the inflammatory process, a fact which explains the clinical syndrome.

Dermatomyositis and Polymyositis
2004Abstract Hillary was a delightful four-year-old. She had a younger sister who was just beginning to walk when the family noticed that Hillary was asking to be carried and holding on much more often than she had previously. Her family thought this was a reaction to the increased attention given to her sister. But the next month she became

Cardiac manifestations in polymyositis
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1978Twenty-one patients with polymyositis were prospectively examined with echocardiography, phonocardiography and electrocardiography. Cardiac performance, estimated with echocardiography, was enhanced as shown by a significant (P less than 0.01) increase in ejection phase indexes of left ventricular function compared with values in a matched control ...

A case of eosinophilic polymyositis is reported. Tender muscle swelling was followed by proximal weakness, creatinine kinase elevation, and electromyographic features typical of polymyositis. Severe myocarditis, pericarditis and heart failure were present. Muscle biopsy specimen showed active myositis with eosinophil infiltrate.

Dermatomyositis and Polymyositis
2017Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs), collectively called myositis, are a heterogeneous group of diseases affecting adults and children. The IIMs are characterized by symmetrical, proximal muscle weakness and by inflammatory infiltrates in skeletal muscles.
