Generalized quandle polynomials and their applications to stuquandles, stuck links, and RNA folding

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
We introduce a generalization of the quandle polynomial. We prove that our polynomial is an invariant of stuquandles. Furthermore, we use the invariant of stuquandles to define a polynomial invariant of stuck links. As a byproduct, we obtain a polynomial

Certain Invariant Sequences of Polynomials [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1929
We discuss certain sequences of uniform functions of one variable such that the derivative of each term of a given sequence is equal to the preceding term, and each term is changed by a linear transformation on the variable into a multiple of itself, the multiplier being a function of the rank of the term alone, and the linear transformation and the ...

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

On odd powers of nonnegative polynomials that are not sums of squares

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
We initiate a systematic study of nonnegative polynomials P such that $P^k$ is not a sum of squares for any odd $k\geq 1$ , calling such P stubborn. We develop a new invariant of a real isolated zero of a nonnegative polynomial in the plane,

On (h,k)-Dichotomies for Nonautonomous Linear Difference Equations in Banach Spaces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
This paper considers two general concepts of dichotomy for noninvertible and nonautonomous linear discrete-time systems in Banach spaces. These concepts use two types of dichotomy projections sequences (invariant and strongly invariant) and generalize ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

The Cubic Polynomial Differential Systems with two Circles as Algebraic Limit Cycles

open access: yesAdvanced Nonlinear Studies, 2018
In this paper we characterize all cubic polynomial differential systems in the plane having two circles as invariant algebraic limit cycles.

Uniform boundedness and global existence of solutions for reaction-diffusion systems with a balance law and a full matrix of diffusion coefficients

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2001
The purpose of this paper is to prove uniform boundedness and so global existence of solutions for reaction-diffusion systems with a full matrix of diffusion coefficients satisfying a balance law.
