A dual active set algorithm for optimal sparse convex regression
The shape-constrained problems in statistics have attracted much attention in recent decades. One of them is the task of finding the best fitting monotone regression. The problem of constructing monotone regression (also called isotonic regression) is to

In this text we give a decomposition result on polynomial poly-vector fields generalizing a result on the decomposition of homogeneous Poisson structures. We discuss consequences of this decomposition result in particular for low dimensions and low degrees.

Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Zeroes of complete polynomial vector fields [PDF]
We prove that a complete polynomial vector field on C 2 \mathbb {C}^{2} has at most one zero, and analyze the possible cases of those with exactly one which is not of Poincaré-Dulac type. We also obtain the possible nonzero first jet singularities of the foliation

Asymmetry of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in BaTiO3
Phase transitions are typically assumed to behave identically in forward and reverse. This work shows that in the ferroelectric material barium titanate this is not true: heating drives an abrupt, first‐order jump, while cooling gives a smooth, continuous change.

On covariant actions for chiral p-forms
We construct a Lorentz and generally covariant, polynomial action for free chiral p-forms, classically equivalent to the Pasti-Sorokin-Tonin (PST) formulation.

Stochastic Parameterization Using Compressed Sensing: Application to the Lorenz-96 Atmospheric Model
Growing set of optimization and regression techniques, based upon sparse representations of signals, to build models from data sets has received widespread attention recently with the advent of compressed sensing.

Photonics of Topological Magnetic Textures
Localized noncollinear magetic textures imprint their geometry and topology onto traversing photonic fields endowing them with orbital angular‐momentum, chirality, and magnetoelectric densities. Abstract Topological textures in magnetically ordered materials are an important case studies for fundamental research with promising applications in data ...

Goos‐Hänchen shift (GHS) is a phenomenon in which an optical beam experiences a longitudinal displacement upon total internal reflection. In this work, we experimentally demonstrate an enhanced GHS in the wavelength domain using a helical fiber grating (HFG).
