Synthesis of Block Copolymers Utilizing Alkoxycarbonylation or Aminocarbonylation of Growing Chain End in Pd‐Catalyzed Living Polymerization of Olefins

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
Diimine Pd catalysts have been known to promote the living polymerization of olefins. Treatment of the living polyolefin with carbon monoxide followed by the addition of alcohols or amines results in alkoxycarbonylation or aminocarbonylation of the ...

Generating Tagged Micro‐ and Nanoparticles of Poly(ethylene furanoate) and Poly(ethylene terephthalate) as Reference Materials

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
We successfully developed poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and poly(ethylene furanoate) (PEF) nanoparticles and microparticles, covalently tagged with Alexa Fluor 633 or Alexa Fluor 647, using both mechanical and solvent‐based approaches. The particles displaying hydrodynamic diameters between 200 and 700 nm, exhibited long‐term colloidal stability ...

Experimental Study on Polymer–Polymer Interfacial Thermal Resistance

open access: yesMacromolecular Theory and Simulations, Volume 34, Issue 2, March 2025.
Interfacial thermal resistance (ITR) in polymer–polymer interfaces is experimentally measured in this paper by the multi‐layered bulk sample approach. Based on numerical simulation and experimental verification, new techniques of layer‐overlapping samples are developed.

Plasma Surface Treatment of Powder Materials — Process and Application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Polyolefin particles are hydrophobic, and this prevents their use for various applications. Plasma treatment is an environment-friendly polyolefin hydrophilisation method.

Design and operation of LongBo: a 2 m long drift liquid argon TPC

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we report on the design and operation of the LongBo time projection chamber in the Liquid Argon Purity Demonstrator cryostat. This chamber features a 2 m long drift distance. We measure the electron drift lifetime in the liquid argon using

Quantification of Homopolymer Impurities in Structured Acrylate Copolymers Produced by High‐Temperature Semi‐Batch Radical Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
Isobornyl acrylate macromonomer solutions are synthesized via high‐temperature radical polymerization using a starved‐feed semi‐batch operating policy. Through sequential feeding, the macromonomer solution functions as an addition‐fragmentation agent, facilitating the production of blocky and comb acrylate copolymers.

Modifying Mechanical Performance of an LLDPE/PP Waste Blend During a Single Recycling Cycle Using Organometallic Complexes

open access: yesSPE Polymers
In this study, organometallic complexes were introduced at 0.05 wt% to modify the performance of a 70/30 LLDPE/PP waste blend during a single recycling cycle under high shear.

Coarse-grained Description of Polymer Blends as Interacting Soft-Colloidal Particles

open access: yes, 2004
We present a theoretical approach which maps polymer blends onto mixtures of soft-colloidal particles. The analytical mesoscale pair distribution functions reproduce well data from united atom molecular dynamics simulations of polyolefin mixtures without

In‐Process Melt Separation of Depolymerized PET in PET/PE Blends for Upcycling via Twin‐Screw Extrusion

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
This work aims to depolymerize PET in PET/LLDPE blends via twin‐screw extrusion to allow low‐Mw PET to be extracted and separated. The separated PET is made into BHET and then sold to create virgin PET. LLDPE will be cracked into low‐Mw products that can be utilized as various products.
