C–H Functionalization of Polyolefins to Access Reprocessable Polyolefin Thermosets

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2023
Upcycling plastic waste into reprocessable materials with performance-advantaged properties would contribute to the development of a circular plastics economy. Here, we modify branched polyolefins and postconsumer polyethylene through a versatile C-H functionalization approach using thiosulfonates as a privileged radical group transfer functionality ...

Catechol‐Functionalized Polyolefins

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2020
AbstractThe incorporation of comonomers during ethylene polymerization can efficiently modulate important material properties of the polyolefins. Utilizing bioresourced comonomers for the generation of high‐performance polyolefin materials is attractive from a sustainability point of view.

Metallocene‐based functionalized polyolefins as compatibilizers in polyolefin nanocomposites

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2004
AbstractThis article reports a study of some functionalized polyolefins evaluated as compatibilizers in polyethylene nanocomposites. The functionalized polymers were prepared by direct metallocene‐mediated copolymerizations of ethylene and a functional comonomer. The prepared nanocomposites were evaluated for mechanical and barrier property enhancement.

Catalytic degradation of polyolefins

Makromolekulare Chemie. Macromolecular Symposia, 1992
AbstractSilica, alumina, silica‐aluminas and zeolites were screened as catalysts for polyolefins degradation. The degradations were carried out at temperatures from 200°C till to 600°C under vacuum. The degradation products were analyzed using gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (GC‐MS).

Polyolefin Diol in Coatings for Thermoplastic Polyolefins

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Coating resins have been developed which adhere well to a variety of plastic substrates without the use of an adhesion promoter or other surface preparation. These resins are based on a new polyolefin diol, cured with either melamine resins or with isocyanates.

Laser welding of polyolefin elastomers to thermoplastic polyolefin

ICALEO 2003: 22nd International Congress on Laser Materials Processing and Laser Microfabrication, 2003
Polyolefin elastomers (POEs) are used in stand-alone applications or as impact modifiers for thermoplastic polyolefins (TPO). The weldability of POEs to TPO is an important consideration for their incorporation into automotive products and so a study was performed to assess their weldability using through-transmission laser welding (TTLW).

Polyolefins with Cyclic Comonomers

2013
Highly active metallocenes and other single-site catalysts have opened up the possibility to polymerize cycloolefins or to copolymerize them with ethene or propene. The polymers obtained show interesting structures and properties. The cycloolefins such as cyclopentene, norbornene, and their substituted derivatives are incorporated into the polymer ...

Polyolefin Clay Nanocomposites

2010
This chapter is divided into four main parts. The first part briefly describes theoretical reasons for modification of either nanoclays or polymeric matrix. In the following, brief discussion of morphology characterization methods of nanocomposites is given.
