Metabarcoding Reveals Fine Scale Patterns of Trophic Resource Use and Partitioning Along Gradients of Land Use and Deer Density in a Multi‐Species Ungulate Community

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
We used DNA metabarcoding of 2,568 fecal samples to examine seasonal diets and resource partitioning among four deer species (moose, roe deer, red deer, fallow deer) across two Swedish landscapes. Deer consumed a wide range of plants, but diets were typically dominated by a few key taxa, with distinct dietary separation between moose and smaller deer ...

Selection and Evaluation of Native Plants for Rain Gardens in Tropical Regions: A Dual‐Method Assessment Framework

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Rain gardens depend on resilient plant species that can withstand fluctuating moisture conditions while providing ecological and aesthetic benefits. This study addresses the limited research on tropical and native herbaceous species by evaluating their health through both visual and physiological assessment methods.

Are lichens biocompasses? Revisiting an old prediction using new techniques

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 27, Issue 6, Page 1150-1157, October 2025.
The equator‐facing portions of tree trunks receive direct sunlight and create restrictive microclimate conditions for lichens that orient preferentially towards the Earth's poles where trunks are shaded, indicating an optimal zone at the fine‐scale radial dimension.
