Pectin Coated Hollow Fiber Polypropylene Membranes

The International Journal of Artificial Organs, 1997
The aim of this study was to prepare a composite membrane for the selective, extracorporeal removal of human LDL-cholesterol. Pectin coated on a porous polypropylene membrane (PP) was used as an active LDL adsorber. Three types of membrane preparations were performed: coating of native PP, coating after chemical etching and γ-irradiated coated PP ...

Polymorphism in polypropylene fibers

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003
AbstractThe structure of polypropylene fibers formed by different spinning conditions was studied. The investigations were carried out using wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (WAXS) and small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS) methods. It was stated that in noncolored fibers the mesophase and the monoclinic α forms were formed.

Fibers from polypropylene/nano carbon fiber composites

Polymer, 2002
Fibers from polypropylene and polypropylene/vapor grown nano carbon fiber composite have been spun using conventional melt spinning equipment. At 5 wt% nano carbon fiber loading, modulus and compressive strength of polypropylene increased by 50 and 100%, respectively, and the nano carbon fibers exhibited good dispersion in the polypropylene matrix as ...

Time‐Dependent Properties of Isotactic Polypropylene Fibers

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1999
Many physical properties of polymers exhibit appreciable changes with the time. Some of these changes are due to the phenomenon reported as “physical aging.” Physical aging of polymers, depending only on time, occurs in amorphous polymers stored at a temperature below the glass transition temperature (Tg): when the system is rapidly cooled through Tg ...

Textile polypropylene fibers: fundamentals

1999
Polypropylene (PP) fibers contain, according to ISO 2076, minimally an 85% portion of macromolecular polypropylene chains and maximally 15% of another fiber-forming polymer, the content of nonfiber-forming substance being unlimited. Of the stereoregular isomers, only isotactic PP is used for fiber preparation.

Fiber reinforced rubber modified polypropylene

Polymer Engineering & Science, 1975
AbstractReinforcement can improve the modulus, heat distortion temperature and thermal expansion coefficient of rubber modified polypropylene. These improvements canbe obtained with a minimum sacrifice in resin ductility and impact toughness. Our studies have shown that reinforcement with small discontinuous fibers can provide a material with a good ...

Melt Spinning of Polypropylene Fiber

Advance Research in Textile Engineering, 2023
In this paper the melt spinning process and technology of polypropylene fiber, polymerization conditions, preparation of polypropylene fiber by a larger variety of processes and the stress in the spinline was presented. More emphasis was given on the various polymerization processes (gas-phase and liquid-phase polymerization), catalyst system ...

Natural fiber/polypropylene composites

1999
There are ecological and economical reasons in favor of the use of natural fibers as reinforcing fibers for plastics. A lower price, better recyclability, hygienic harmlessness and a carbon dioxide neutral combustion are the advantages of natural fibers compared to glass fibers (GF).

Newspaper Fiber-Reinforced Polypropylene Composite

Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, 1993
As an effort to reuse old newspaper, a newspaper fiber-reinforced polypro pylene (NPF/PP) composite was made. The effects of the manufacturing conditions, addi tives, and interfacial modification on the mechanical properties of the composites were in vestigated.
