Stabilization of Polypropylene Fibres
Fibre Chemistry, 2001An optimum method was found for incorporating a polymeric concentrate of the light and thermal stabilizer Chimassorb 944 in the amount of 0.2 %. The method allows fabricating a fibre with satisfactory physicomechanical indexes that retains more than 80% of its strength after UV irradiation for 30 days.

Strengthening of polypropylene fibre
Fibre Chemistry, 1971It has been shown that elongation of polypropylene fibre at a temperature above the melting point of the unoriented polymer is accompanied not only by an increase in structure orientation, but also by formation of a denser structure, which ensures a high fibre strength.

Structure of photooxidized polypropylene fibres
Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1987Abstract Photooxidative degradation of polypropylene fibres which differ in the degree of orientation was studied. IR spectroscopy revealed that in the presence of light stabilizers the induction period of oxidation was prolonged and the accumulation of carbonyl groups in the fibre was slowed down.

Characterisation of modified polypropylene fibres
Journal of Materials Science, 2003Due to excellent mechanical properties, high chemical stability and processability polypropylene fibres are mostly used in different technical fields. However, because of low surface energy, lack of reactive sites and sensitivity to photo or thermal oxidation the polymer properties are insufficient for some applications.

Interfaces in Alfa Fibre-Polypropylene Matrix Composites
Materials Science Forum, 2008Model composites with Polypropylene (PP) as matrix and alfa fibres (cellulose-based fibres obtained from the esparto grass of the subsaarian dry regions of Tunisia) were prepared for fibre/matrix interfacial characterization studies. The matrices tested were PP and PP combined with PP modified with maleic anhydride (PP-g-MA).

Bonding in polypropylene fibre reinforced concretes
Cement and Concrete Composites, 1989Abstract The geometry of fibrillated polypropylene fibres after mixing in concrete, and the nature of the fibre interface in the hardened concrete, were characterised by optical and scanning electron microscopy, to resolve the bonding mechanisms in this system.

Morphological investigations of polypropylene single-fibre reinforced polypropylene model composites
Polymer, 2001Melt-spun isotactic polypropylene (iPP) fibres have been prepared with moduli of about 12 GPa and strength of 730 MPa. Single-fibre model composites are prepared by embedding constrained high-modulus iPP fibres in thin films of a matrix material based on the same isotactic polypropylene grade. The morphology of these composites has been investigated by

Transcrystallization of polypropylene on carbon fibres
Polymer, 1997Measurements have been made using a polarized optical microscope equipped with hot stages to investigate the transcrystallization of polypropylene on carbon fibres. Both the nucleation rate and induction time at various crystallization temperatures were measured. It has been found that the induction time is inversely proportional to the nucleation rate.

Bonding of air-formed wood fibre/polypropylene fibre composites
International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 1991Abstract The effectiveness of a maleated polypropylene (MAPP) as a coupling agent in wood fibre/polypropylene fibre composites made by non-woven web technology has been evaluated. The composite panels were made with 70 or 85% wood fibre, wiht the MAPP being incorporated in the panels at a level of 1 or 3% by spraying an emulsified form on the wood ...
