The relationship among changes in microstructure, active sites behavior and properties in the propylene polymerization with a 4th generation Ziegler-Natta catalyst [PDF]

open access: yesPolyolefins Journal, 2019
Three polypropylene samples (1-3) were synthesized with a 4th generation Ziegler-Natta catalyst in the presence of cyclohexyldimethoxymethylsilane (donor c), dicyclopenthyldimethoxysilane (donor d) and diisopropyldimethoxysilane (donor p), respectively ...

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Biodegradation of three-ply disposable masks in freshwater using a microbial consortium of Enterococcus faecalis and Chlorella vulgaris

open access: yesArab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences
Disposable masks, predominantly made from polypropylene, share similar environmental challenges as plastic waste due to their persistence and limited biodegradability.

Effects of Chlorinated Polypropylene on the Conformation of Polypropylene in Polypropylene/Chlorinated Polypropylene/Polyaniline Composites [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, 2015
We investigated the changes in the conformation and crystalline structure of polypropylene (PP) using a combination of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) based on PP/chlorinated PP (CPP)/polyaniline (PANI) composites.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Recycling of Polyolefins for Multiple Lifecycles

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
The recycling of polyolefins for multiple life cycles is becoming a legislative requirement in the South African plastics industry. This study shows that this cannot be a blanket requirement for all polyolefins.
