Ultrafiltration of Milk: Effect on Lactoferrin, Lysozyme, and Lactoperoxidase Activity During Cheddar Cheese Ripening

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2026.
The retention of lactoferrin lactoperoxidase, and lysozyme in milk concentrated by ultrafiltration (UF) before cheesemaking and on cheese properties was studied. Cheese made with concentrated milk retained 17% more LF than the control. No effect on cheese properties was observed. UF could be an additional tool to enhance cheese bioactivity.

Studying modified porous medical membranes by atomic force microscopy

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2018
Polymeric membranes used in medicine and biotechnology, for example in hemodialysis and gas separation, and their modification have been studied. The object of the study is polysulfone porous membranes characterized by reproducible physical properties ...

A Dual-mode model interpretation of CO2/CH4 permeability in polysulfone membranes at low pressures

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
An asymmetric membrane of polysulfone (PSf) was synthesized by phase inversion method. Permeation experiments were carried out between 2 to 5 bar pressure, and at temperatures 20 to 45°C.

The Sorption of Metals on the Polysulfone Cation Exchange Membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The sorption of NaCl and CaCl2 and monovalent-divalent cation salt mixtures on the polysulfone and polysulfone with polyester support cation exchange membranes were investigated.

The effect of hydrocarbon pollution on polysulfone-based membranes in aqueous separations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This work investigates the influence of hydrocarbon pollution on the performance of desalination membranes with a polysulfone support. Toluene was chosen as the model hydrocarbon compound and permeation measurements were performed on two commercial ...

BIOCOMPATIBILITY OF POLYSULFONE COMPOSITE MATERIALS FOR DENTAL IMPLANT [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
As a part of the work designed to find a material suitable for a dental implant, tissue reaction of various kinds of polysulfone composite materials has first been studied by implantation in the femur of rats and in the mandible of rabbits.

Heat disinfection of polysulfone hemodialyzers

open access: yesKidney International, 1995
Reprocessing of hemodialyzers has been a clinical practice since the beginning of chronic hemodialysis therapy in the 1960's. This practice was performed initially with Kiil dialyzers for time efficiency as well as cost of the membranes [1]. When the hollow fiber dialyzer was developed at San Francisco General Hospital in the late 1960's by Gotch et al

Gas Separation of Carbon Dioxide from Methane Using Polysulfone Membrane Incorporated with Zeolite-T [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, a series of mixed matrix membranes (MMM) were produced by incorporating zeolite-T particles into the polysulfone (PSf) membrane. Membranes obtained were characterized using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), Energy ...
