Two strategies for fitting real data to Rasch polytomous models.

Journal of applied measurement, 2002
A comparative study of the results provided by two strategies for fitting data to Latent Trait Theory Models has been performed. The first, called Total-Persons-Items (TPI), is structured in three phases: 1) assessment of item fit, 2) assessment of person fit; and finally, 3) overall fit of data to the models (items and persons).

Violations of the Assumption of Independence II—The Polytomous Rasch Model

2019
Items hypothesized to be dependent can be combined into higher order polytomous items and the data reanalysed using the PRM. If the reliability estimate from an analysis where items hypothesized to be dependent are combined into higher order polytomous items is lower than the reliability estimate from the original analysis, dependence is present.

Diagnosing a common rater halo effect using the polytomous Rasch model.

Journal of applied measurement, 2012
The 'halo effect' may be unique to different raters or common to all raters. When common to all raters, halo is not detectable through standard fit indices of the three-facet Rasch model used to account for differences in rater severities. Using a formulation of halo as a violation of local independence, a halo effect common to all raters is simulated ...

Understanding the Response Structure and Process in the Polytomous Rasch Model

2015
The Rasch model for ordered response categories in standard formats was derived from a sequence of theoretical propositions requiring invariance of comparisons among item and among person parameter estimates. A model with sufficient statistics is the consequence.

The Polytomous Rasch Model within the Class of Generalized Linear Symmetry Models

1995
Polytomous Rasch models are derived from a new requirement for objective measurement, the (quasi-)interchangeability of measurement instruments. This principle is introduced as a symmetry restriction on the statistical distribution of a set of measurements. The restriction is formulated as a generalized linear model.

Some New and Some Old Results for the Polytomous Rasch Model

2002
In the first part, the polytomous Rasch model is discussed as it was presented by Rasch at the Berkeley Symposium in 1960, and published in the Proceedings from the Symposium in 1961. I shall then discuss what was achieved in the next 10 to 15 years as regards estimation and check of the model. As Georg Rasch himself never learned to program a computer,

A comparison between SEM and Rasch model: the polytomous case

2013
The aim of the paper is to apply Rating Scale Model and Structural Equation Model to the same polytomous data in order to highlight the differences and similarities between the two models, developing a simulation study involving different situations. Moreover, we present a real case regarding the analysis of the quality of work.

Constructing a Polysemous Academic Vocabulary Extent Test Via Polytomous Rasch Model Measurement Analyses

2015
Educational measurement research faces an unresolved dilemma: competently meeting the longstanding demand for improved vocabulary strength (depth) aspect assessments. My original contribution to knowledge in the written receptive vocabulary knowledge construct research domain is twofold.
