Physical Anchoring‐Assisted Mechanically Guided Assembly for Material‐Independent 3D Mesostructures

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
Conventional mechanically guided 3D assembly relies on selective chemical bonding between 2D precursors and elastomeric substrates, imposing fundamental limitations on material compatibility and scalability. Here, we present a physically anchored, buckling‐guided assembly platform based on a rod array patterned elastomeric substrate (RPES).

Long‐term management of extensive plastron thermal burn with surgical debridement and negative pressure wound therapy in an African spurred tortoise (Centrochelys sulcata)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, August 2026.
Abstract An adult, male African spurred tortoise (Centrochelys sulcata) was presented for evaluation of severe thermal burns of the plastron, approximately 5 months after an enclosure fire. On presentation, limbs were ulcerated, and the plastron was soft to touch with necrotic tissue and purulent discharge.

Effect of Foam Faces and Butterfly Auxetic Core on Sandwich Nanoplate Vibration and Buckling

open access: yesZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, Volume 106, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This research examines the thermomechanical vibration and buckling properties of a three‐layer sandwich nanoplate, which consists of foam face layers and a butterfly‐shaped auxetic core. The formulation is developed based on Hamilton's principle and higher‐order shear deformation theory (HSDT), utilizing an analytical Navier‐type solution to ...

The Effects of Microplastics and Additives on Ecosystem Function, Structure, and Signaling

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2026.
Microplastics disrupt ecosystem signaling through olfactory traps, altering predator–prey signaling and disrupting microbial communication and quorum sensing. ABSTRACT Microplastics (MPs) and their associated chemical additives are pervasive contaminants whose ecological impacts extend beyond organismal toxicity to fundamentally alter ecosystem ...

Continuous positive airway pressure usage before and after issue of an urgent product defect correction notice following a global Philips recall

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, Volume 56, Issue 8, Page 1332-1340, August 2026.
Abstract Background Following the global recall of three to four million Philips continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices in 2021 due to emissions of harmful products, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) issued guidance recommending continuing usage, stating discontinuing treatment could be immediately harmful.
