The polyurethane nasotracheal tube [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 1994
SummaryAn uncuffed nasotracheal tube for use in minor maxillofacial surgery has been developed using polyurethane. The suitability of this tube as an alternative to the existing soft red rubber and harder polyvinyl chloride materials has been assessed at four centres during anaesthesia for routine oral surgery. The tube was found to be satisfactory.

Bi‐Directional Assembly of Boron Nitride µ‐Platelets by Micro‐Molding for Advanced Thermal Interface Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bi‐directionally assembled BN µ‐platelets in micropatterns formed by a micro‐molding method for thermal interface materials are demonstrated. The BN µ‐platelets are vertically aligned selectively, while compressed regions without patterns accommodate horizontally assembled BN µ‐platelets. Through anisotropic orientation, high thermal conductivities for

Polyurethane: An Introduction

open access: yes, 2012
The discovery of polyurethane [PU] dates back to the year 1937 by Otto Bayer and his coworkers at the laboratories of I.G. Farben in Leverkusen, Germany. The initial works focussed on PU products obtained from aliphatic diisocyanate and diamine forming polyurea, till the interesting properties of PU obtained from an aliphatic diisocyanate and glycol ...

Shape‐Reconfigurable Crack‐Based Strain Sensor with Ultrahigh and Tunable Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A highly sensitive crack‐based sensor with tunable strain detection capabilities is demonstrated through controlled nanocrack formation in a line‐patterned shape memory polymer substrate. The sensor design integrates thermoplastic polyurethane and poly(lactic acid), enabling thermo‐responsive reconfiguration of crack geometry.

Tunable Tactile Synapses Enabled by Erasable Doping in Iongel‐Gated Nanotube Network Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial tactile synaptic sensors are realized by an iongel‐gated single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) transistor with reversible doping characteristics. The device senses and memorizes tactile stimuli and exhibits gate bias‐dependent excitatory or inhibitory synaptic behavior.

Flexible Leaf‐Like Fuel Cell From Plasmonic Janus Nanosheet

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible leaf‐like fuel cell is fabricated by conductive gold nanowire sponge‐supported plasmonic Janus nanosheet, which can generate a power of 8.93 mW cm⁻2 with less than 10% performance deterioration even being bent or twisted. Further assembly in a tree‐like layout demonstrates omnidirectional light harvesting capability and wind resistance ...

Application of Binary Firefly Algorithm (BFA) in tuning PID parameters for couple tank system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
This paper presents the application of the Binary Firefly Algorithm (BFA) in tuning PID parameters for a coupled tank system. The agent position in the BFA represents the potential combination the PID parameters.
