MODIFICATION OF POLYVINYL ALCOHOL WITH HYDRAZINE
A modified polyvinyl alcohol containing 5.25 mol% of hydrazide group in the polymer chain was prepared by the reaction of vinyl acetate-acrylamide copolymer with hydrazine hydrate. Similar polyvinyl alcohol containing 1.05% of nitrogen was readily obtained from commercial polyvinyl acetate by the hydrolysis with hydrazine hydrate.Thermal stability of ...

By turning off hydrogen bonds by bulky ethyl cinnamate ester derivatization, softwood kraft lignin can flow under elevated temperatures, providing tough fiber in the melt for high take‐up speed. Subsequently, lignin ethyl cinnamate derivatives are readily stabilized with only dilute nitric acid leading to direct carbonized fiber with outstanding ...

Wrinkling of soft materials, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), underpins a myriad of technologies. Plasma‐oxidation of PDMS induces spontaneous wrinkling, which is canonically attributed to thermal expansion‐contraction of bilayers. Employing experiments and modelling, it is demonstrated that sorption of water vapor is instead responsible for ...

Study on Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) CopolymersBiodegradation [PDF]
In the study the biodegradability of some poly(vinyl alcohol)-g-aspartic acid copolymers was investigated, using Trichotecium roseum fungus. The biodegraded samples were examined after established days of inoculation (3–21 days).
