モルホリンはポリ塩化ビニルの良溶媒であるが, この溶液を約100℃以上に加熱するとポリ塩化ピニルの側鎖塩素とモルホリンの>NHの活性水素とが脱塩酸してモルホリン環が側鎖に導入された。この際副反応として共役ポリエン構造の生成による着色と重合度低下が起こった。ポリ塩化ビニルの重合度, 溶液濃度, ふんい気, 希釈剤の種類を変えた場合について反応過程を遊離塩素イオン量と反応生成物の窒素含量から検討したがシクロヘキサノン, テトラヒドロフランのような希釈剤を使用した場合に反応が阻害された以外は上記因子の影響はあまり認められなかった。
