Polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl alcohol/ polyvinyl pyrrolidone biomedical foams crosslinked by gamma irradiation

Journal of Cellular Plastics, 2016
Foams for biomedical applications were made from polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl alcohol / polyvinyl pyrrolidone blend and their nanocomposites with nanoclay by clean processes. Air was entrapped into the aqueous polymer solutions during vigorous mixing and then the solutions were freeze-dried. The foams structure was stabilized by crosslinking via gamma

Syndiotactic polyvinyl formate and derived polyvinyl alcohol

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1963
AbstractA study was made of the effect of polymerization temperature on the syndiotacticity of polyvinyl formate. Vinyl formate was polymerized with ultraviolet light initiation in the temperature range from −20 to +30°C. The value of (Ep — Et)/2 obtained, 4.5 kcal./mole, is characteristic of those values obtained by other workers for the free radical ...

Polyvinyl Alcohol and Polyvinyl Acetate

2020
Basically only ethylene and air are needed for the production of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) and its polymer analogous products, such as polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl butyrate. Polyvinyl acetate serves as the precursor for polyvinyl alcohol and, directly or indirectly, the polyvinyl acetals.

Polyvinyl alcohol

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is one of the main exploited Water-Soluble Polymers (WSPs), from packaging production to biomedical purposes. However, despite its widespread use, there still seems to be some controversy regarding its chemical safety. In this brief chapter the main knowledge in the PVA (eco)toxicological field is summarized, highlighting how ...
