Stabilizing Soil Using Annealed Polyvinyl Alcohol as Long-lasting Binder [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Agricultural production heavily exploits the soil, resulting in high erosion in cultivated land, which poses a threat to food security and environmental sustainability. To address this issue, we stabilize the soil using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). PVA strongly adheres to the soil after mixing and annealing, enhancing the cohesive strength of the soil. The

A highly sensitive piezoresistive sensor based on MXene and polyvinyl butyral with a wide detection limit and low power consumption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
As a new class of two-dimensional transition-metal carbide and carbonitride, MXene have been widely used in the energy storage, sensor, catalysis, electromagnetic interference shielding and other field. It is a challenge to simultaneously realize a sensor of extremely high sensitivity, wide detection limits, low power consumption and good mechanical ...

Dynamics of electric charge transport and determination of the percolation insulator-to-metal transition in polyvinyl-pyrrolidone / nano-graphene platelet composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Polyvinyl-pyrrolidone (PVP) loaded with different fractions of dispersed nano-graphene platelets (NGP) were studied by Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy in the frequency range from 1 mHz to 1 MHz. Complex permittivity and dynamic ac conductivity as a function of frequency, temperature and composition were explored. The concentration-dependent insulator-

Polymer Thin Films as Universal Substrates for Extreme Ultraviolet Absorption Spectroscopy of Molecular Transition Metal Complexes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Polystyrene and polyvinyl chloride thin films are explored as sample supports for extreme ultraviolet (XUV) spectroscopy of molecular transition metal complexes. Thin polymer films prepared by slip-coating are flat, smooth, and transmit much more XUV light than silicon nitride windows.

Nanoparticle‐Coated X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 Powder for Additive Manufacturing—Part II: Processability by Powder Bed Fusion of Metals Using a Laser Beam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this manuscript, the processability of X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 powder coated with silicon carbide, silicon, and silicon nitride nanoparticles is investigated. The amount of nanoparticles varies from 0.25 to 1 vol%. By coating the powder feedstock material with nanoparticles, an enlargement of the process window and an increase in the build rate are achieved.
