Holotype: not known to exist, as searches in the wet and dry collections at the BMNH by both J. Beccaloni (pers. comm.) and myself did not reveal it; type locality: Mexico. Original rank: species.

The way to translate species name of Pomacea canaliculata into Chinese has been of confusion for a long time. We collected the relevant references on investigations of snail, species similar to Pomacea canaliculata and made comparison on the characteristics of those species which serve as intermediate snail host of Angiostrongylus cantonensis.
