Identification of pollinators of lesser twayblade Neottia cordata with DNA barcoding reveals strong links with pine forest‐related fauna

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2025, Issue 3, March 2025.
Many European terrestrial orchids are in decline. To curb this negative trend and preserve remaining populations, more ecological knowledge is needed. Surprisingly little is known yet about the identity and efficiency of pollinators of lesser twayblade Neottia cordata, a small terrestrial orchid species associated with pine trees through joint ...

Evolving perspectives in Hymenoptera systematics: Bridging fossils and genomes across time

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 1, Page 1-31, January 2025.
Advances in sequencing and phylogenomic methods reveal unresolved deep phylogenetic nodes with variable age estimates in Hymenoptera, including, for example, Eusymphyta and Proctotrupomorpha. Conflicting morphological and molecular data hinder consensus in Hymenoptera systematics.

Male genitalia, hierarchical homology, and the anatomy of the bullet ant (Paraponera clavata; Hymenoptera, Formicidae)

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 285, Issue 9, September 2024.
We present a multimodal anatomy of the male genitalia of the bullet ant, Paraponera clavata. Using this as a model system, we expand and refine on the 5‐category system of homology classification proposed by Meneganzin et al. (2024) and we present evidence supporting the penis‐coxopod theory of male genitalic homology in male insects. Abstract The male

Resilin in Insect Flight Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 35, August 28, 2024.
The development of resilin‐based biomaterials for medical and industrial applications has been constantly advanced in recent years. Resilin is a rubber‐like protein that occurs in arthropod exoskeleton structures. In the insect flight system, its function depends on its overall location, protein sequence and mixture with stiffer exoskeleton components.

Wegwespen (Hymenoptera: Pompilidae) aus der mongolei

open access: yesMitteilungen aus dem Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. Zoologisches Museum und Institut für Spezielle Zoologie 〈Berlin〉, 1981
AbstractBased on 353 specimens of spider wasps collected by six Mongolia‐German Biological Expeditions 62 species and subspecies belonging to 15 genera are recorded from the Mongolian Democratic Republic. Nine species and two subspecies are described as new; two sexes, hitherto unknown, are presented for the first time.
