Pooled Mean Group estimation on international capital mobility in African countries

Research in Economics, 2012
This paper investigates the relationship between the savings and investment rates for 37 African countries over the period 1970–2006, using the recently developed Pooled Mean Group cointegration technique. Our results show that in the long-run, capital was relatively mobile in African countries, while, in the short-run, coefficients are not significant.

Formulas and Web Application for Designing a Biospecimen Pooling Study to Compare Group Means

Epidemiology, 2020
Background: When research focuses on biomarker assessment in settings where per-assay costs are high relative to per-subject costs, a biospecimen pooling study design can be extremely cost-effective. However, designing a study to maximize cost savings is complicated by the fact that pooled measurements are typically subject to ...

Pooled mean group estimation of an environmental Kuznets curve for CO2

Economics Letters, 2004
Abstract We apply the Pooled Mean Group Estimator to test for the existence of an environmental Kuznets curve for CO2 in 22 OECD countries. This approach allows for more flexible assumptions in a panel data framework. The period goes from 1975 to 1998.

The results from Pooled Mean Group showed that the linear impact was positive. The non-linear effect was positive in the short and the long run, thus favouring network externalities claiming that ...

Impact of infrastructure on economic growth in South Asia: Evidence from pooled mean group estimation

The Electricity Journal, 2020
Abstract We investigate the role of infrastructure in the economic growth of South Asia. To overcome the shortcomings in previous studies, we analyzed the economic growth in a more comprehensive infrastructure framework by introducing a composite index of infrastructure, which includes more than thirty indicators.

A note on the environmental Kuznets curve for CO2: A pooled mean group approach

Applied Energy, 2011
Abstract This paper investigates whether the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis for CO2 emissions is satisfied using the panel data of 28 countries by taking nuclear energy into account. Using the pooled mean group (PMG) estimation method, our main results indicate that (1) the impacts of nuclear energy on CO2 emissions are significantly ...

Testing Black Market vs. Official PPP: A Pooled Mean Group Estimation Approach [PDF]

open access: possible, 2013
Testing purchasing power parity (PPP) using black market exchange rate data has gained popularity in recent times. It is claimed that black market exchange rate data more often support the PPP than the official exchange rate data. In this study, to assess both the long run stability of exchange rate and the short run dynamics, we employ Pooled Mean ...
