Crime as Pop: Gangsta Rap as Popular Staging of Norm Violations

open access: yesArts, 2023
Crime is quantified extensively, mostly in order to prevent it, therefore assuming it as something purely negative. With the concept “Crime as Pop” we argue that such a view is one-sided, since crime is often staged as something that can be attractive ...

Late Pop III Star Formation During the Epoch of Reionization: Results from the Renaissance Simulations

open access: yes, 2016
We present results on the formation of Pop III stars at redshift 7.6 from the Renaissance Simulations, a suite of extremely high-resolution and physics-rich radiation transport hydrodynamics cosmological adaptive-mesh refinement simulations of high ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Il punk dell’ideologia. Iconografia pop di Slavoj Žižek = Punk of ideology. Pop iconography of Slavoj Žižek

open access: yesH-ermes: Journal of Communication, 2015
Punk of ideology. Pop iconography of Slavoj Žižek. Slavoj Žižek can be thought as a punk philosopher? Probably yes. His irreverent analysis of contemporary societies have helped to build a method of investigation of ideology completely original. Ideology

Detecting gravitationally lensed population III galaxies with the Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope

open access: yes, 2012
Small galaxies consisting entirely of population III (pop III) stars may form at high redshifts, and could constitute one of the best probes of such stars.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Anatomy and function of closing muscle complex of the vagina in health and pelvic organ prolapse

open access: yesАкушерство, гинекология и репродукция
Introduction. In modern literature, the pelvic floor muscles are presented by showing their anatomical location and indicating relevant attachment points, but their combined anatomical, topographic and functional significance is described insufficiently,

Apopcalypse: The Popularity of Heavy Metal as Heir to Apocalyptic Artifacts

open access: yesArts, 2023
This paper examines the heavy metal genre as a popular form of apocalypticism, i.e., as a warning reminder or “premediation” of potentially (large-scale) lethal crises.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
