Neonicotinoid seed treatments do not consistently reduce insect feeding damage nor increase yields in Maryland soy

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We compared soybean plants from untreated and treated seeds across 4 sites and 3 years in Maryland. Neonicotinoid seed treatments (NST) provided little reduction in insect stippling damage and no reduction in chewing damage. NST did not result in increased plant biomass or bean yield. Abstract The use of neonicotinoid insecticides in seed treatments in

Effect of Continuous Cropping Generations on Each Component Biomass of Poplar Seedlings during Different Growth Periods

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
In order to investigate the change rules and response characteristics of growth status on each component of poplar seedling followed by continuous cropping generations and growth period, we clear the biomass distribution pattern of poplar seedling, adapt

Characterization of the Poplar R2R3-MYB Gene Family and Over-Expression of PsnMYB108 Confers Salt Tolerance in Transgenic Tobacco

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
The MYB, one of the largest transcription factor families in plants, is related to various biological processes. For an example, the R2R3-MYB family plays an important role in regulation of primary and secondary metabolism, plant growth and development ...

TreeON: Reconstructing 3D Tree Point Clouds from Orthophotos and Heightmaps

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present TreeON, a novel neural‐based framework for reconstructing detailed 3D tree point clouds from sparse top‐down geodata, using only a single orthophoto and its corresponding Digital Surface Model (DSM). Our method introduces a new training supervision strategy that combines both geometric supervision and a differentiable shadow and ...

The GATA transcription factor GNC plays an important role in photosynthesis and growth in poplar

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2019
Thirty-nine GATA transcription factor genes were identified in the poplar genome. The GATA transcription factor PdGNC positively regulates photosynthesis and plant growth by promoting chloroplast development in poplar.

Chasing the perfida Albione: Anglo‐Italian productivity gap in the late 1930s

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents new estimates of Anglo‐Italian labour productivity levels in manufacturing in the late 1930s, derived using the standard single‐deflation approach. The findings confirm a substantial productivity gap between Italy and the United Kingdom at the aggregate level, alongside pronounced intersectoral heterogeneity.

The Place for Form in Wollheim's Lectures on Formalism and Pictorial Organization

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract At the time of his death, Richard Wollheim was writing a short book on Formalism and Pictorial Organization. Much of it, but by no means all of it, had been published before (it has come out posthumously in its entirety in late 2025). Here I do two things. First, I have provided a rather detailed exegesis concentrating on the parts of the book

Investigation of Air Drafting Pattern Obtained from the Variation in Outlet Positions inside a Closed Area

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2012
The ceiling type diffusers were analyzed for the combinations of inlet streams on outlet locations including the variation of angles at inlet. A detailed analysis has been presented using plots of streamlines, isotherms, heat-lines and variation of the ...

Canadian boreal restored mining sites sustain diverse pollinator communities, including species of conservation concern

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Revegetated mine tailing storage facilities support pollinator abundance, diversity, richness and evenness comparable to recently logged boreal forest sites. Agronomic and spontaneous revegetation strategies host similar pollinator and Bombus community structures, indicating multiple rehabilitation approaches can effectively restore pollinator habitat.
