The guidelines do not recommend whether treatment of popliteal artery aneurysms (PAA) should be performed with open repair (OR) or endovascular repair (ER). Current evidence is limited. Nonetheless, there are no significant safety concerns against ER of PAA. ER can, in individual cases, be considered a useful alternative to OR.

Popliteal artery injuries in Vietnam
The American Journal of Surgery, 1969Abstract 1. 1. Although generally good results have been obtained in managing more than 2,000 acute vascular injuries in Vietnam, repair of popliteal arteries remains a problem. 2. 2. One hundred fifty of the 300 injuries of the popliteal artery listed in the Vascular Registry are reviewed. 3. 3.

Popliteal artery and vein entrapment
The American Journal of Surgery, 1967Abstract 1. 1. A case of occlusion of the popliteal artery with thrombosis and aneurysmal formation distal to entrapment by an abnormal laterally attached medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle is reported. 2. 2. Compression of the popliteal vein also by the abnormally situated medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle has not been reported in

Lateral Approach to the Popliteal Artery
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 1988A lateral approach to the popliteal artery is described. The anatomic limits of the exposure, appropriate technical maneuvers to maximize this exposure, and alternative procedures are discussed. Groin or thigh infections in patients requiring urgent revascularization are the most common indications. However, some traumatic injuries and certain elective

[Popliteal artery entrapment].
Minerva chirurgica, 1989The Authors present a case of popliteal artery entrapment syndrome due to an anomalous insertion of medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle. The patient, a 47-year-old man, with calf claudication, was examined with Doppler velocimetry and angiography. He was successfully treated by surgical intervention.

Among patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD), the femoropopliteal (FP) segment is the most commonly affected, with >50 % of all peripheral artery occlusions involving the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and popliteal arteries. Disease in this segment often involves long, diffuse lesions and/or long chronic total occlusions (CTO) that tend to be

Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1978POPLITEAL artery entrapment syndrome refers to intermittent claudication, usually in the young, produced by an anomalous course of the popliteal artery medial to the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle. In this position, the artery is traumatized and repeatedly compressed between bone and contracting muscle.

Ruptured popliteal artery aneurysms
Vascular, 2019Background Rupture is a recognised complication of ruptured popliteal artery aneurysms that requires emergency intervention. There is little evidence collating the presentation, intervention and outcomes of ruptured popliteal artery aneurysms. Objective The primary aim of this study was to deduce the sequelae following different management modalities ...
