Popper\u27s measure of corroboration and P(h|b)
This article shows that Popper\u27s measure of corroboration is inapplicable if, as Popper argued, the logical probability of synthetic universal statements is zero relative to any evidence that we might possess.

Ruddlesden-Popper faults in LaNiO3/LaAlO3 superlattices
Scanning transmission electron microscopy in combination with electron energy-loss spectroscopy is used to study LaNiO3/LaAlO3 superlattices grown on (La,Sr)AlO4 with varying single-layer thicknesses which are known to control their electronic properties.

The critique of scientific and philosophical specialization: reflections on the work of Karl R. Popper [PDF]
Popper was strongly critical towards the process of specialization that has affected the sciences and philosophy, process interpreted by Popper as a sign of post-rationalism and post-critical era: along with the intellectual fashions and recourse to ...

Neoclassical Economics’ Immunisation Strategies Against Behavioural Economics: Popper’s Perspective
Although neoclassical economics faces frequent criticism, it remains the dominant paradigm, largely due to its immunisation strategies that rely on unfalsifiable concepts of utility and rationality. In this paper, I use Karl Popper’s philosophy to assess

Disentangling discrepancies between stellar evolution theory and sub-solar mass stars. The influence of the mixing length parameter for the UV Psc binary [PDF]
Serious discrepancies have recently been observed between predictions of stellar evolution models in the 0.7-1.1 M_sun mass range and accurately measured properties of binary stars with components in this mass range.

Objective This study assessed sarilumab in treating patients with polyarticular‐course juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pcJIA). Methods This phase 2b, open‐label study (NCT02776735) consisted of three sequential parts (each with a core‐treatment and extension‐phase). During part 1, three doses were assessed in two weight groups (Group A/B: ≥30–60 kg/≥10–<

Direct Evidence of Topological Dirac Fermions in a Low Carrier Density Correlated 5d Oxide
The 5d oxide BiRe2O6 is discovered as a low‐carrier‐density topological semimetal hosting symmetry‐protected Dirac fermions stabilized by nonsymmorphic symmetries. Angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy, quantum oscillations, and magnetotransport measurements reveal gapless Dirac cones, quasi‐2D Fermi surfaces, high carrier mobility, and a field ...
