The effect of temporal environmental autocorrelation on eco‐evolutionary dynamics across life histories

open access: yesEcosphere, 2020
One of the largest causes of fluctuations in the size and structure of populations is changes in the environment. In nature, these changes are often temporally autocorrelated and the strength and direction of the autocorrelation can affect population ...

The declining trend of HIV-Infection among pregnant women in Cameroon infers an epidemic decline in the general population

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
Background: HIV remains a generalised epidemic in Cameroon, with regular sentinel surveillance surveys (SSS) conducted among pregnant women to monitor the epidemiological dynamics, and for strategic policy making. Our main objective was to actualise data

Analysis of Population Dynamics of Terrorist Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Applied mathematics connects many different fields of science. This research focuses on the population dynamics of terrorist organizations, namely Al Qaeda, by creating a mathematical model, while still considering social science fields, such as ...

Van der Waals interactions between excited atoms in generic environments

open access: yes, 2016
We consider the the van der Waals force involving excited atoms in general environments, constituted by magnetodielectric bodies. We develop a dynamical approach studying the dynamics of the atoms and the field, mutually coupled.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Transport equation for growing bacterial populations (I)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
This work deals with a mathematical study for growing a bacterial population. Each bacterium is distinguished by its degree of maturity and its maturation velocity. Here we study the limit case corresponding to infinite maturation velocities. We show

A generalized integrated population model to estimate greater sage‐grouse population dynamics

open access: yesEcosphere, 2016
AbstractFor species of conservation concern, assessing population dynamics consistently across different populations is of paramount importance to effective conservation and restoration planning. This effort presents a challenge for wide‐ranging species with considerable variation in both abundance and demographic rates.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
