Generation time and temporal scaling of bird population dynamics
Nature, 2005Theoretical studies have shown that variation in density regulation strongly influences population dynamics, yet our understanding of factors influencing the strength of density dependence in natural populations still is limited. Consequently, few general hypotheses have been advanced to explain the large differences between species in the magnitude of

Stochastic dynamics of immunity in small populations: A general framework
Mathematical Biosciences, 2006Assessment of immunological status is a powerful tool in the surveillance and control of infectious pathogens in livestock and human populations. The distribution of immunity levels in the population provides information on time and age dependent transmission.

A generational genetic algorithm with dynamic population size
Proceedings of the 47th Annual Southeast Regional Conference, 2009In this paper, a Generational Genetic Algorithm with Dynamic Population Size (GGAWD) is proposed. This algorithm and other Genetic Algorithms (GAs) are applied to F6* and F7* functions in order to find which algorithm is the best. The same evaluation times and runs are used to compare the effectiveness of the algorithms.

Measure Solutions for Some Models in Population Dynamics
, 2011We give a direct proof of well-posedness of solutions to general selection-mutation and structured population models with measures as initial data.

Finite population prediction under dynamic generalized linear models
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 1988Bayesian forecasting methods are applied to the analysis of repeated surveys under a dynamic exponential family superpopulation model. It is assumed that the parameters of the superpopulation model at each time period follow a stochastic model. Some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the behavior of the suggested predictors.

A general dynamic model of 19th century US population change
Economic Modelling, 1985"The pattern of rural population growth in 23 northern states during the period 1790 to 1900 is examined using a general dynamic approach. The relationship between fertility, migration and population growth is analysed within a single settlement model and a control solution is produced which demonstrates that fertility and migration behaviour reacted ...

A General Method for Modeling Population Dynamics and Its Applications
Acta Biotheoretica, 2013Studying populations, be it a microbe colony or mankind, is important for understanding how complex systems evolve and exist. Such knowledge also often provides insights into evolution, history and different aspects of human life. By and large, populations' prosperity and decline is about transformation of certain resources into quantity and other ...
