A pharmacokinetics‐based approach to the monitoring of patient adherence to atorvastatin therapy

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives, 2021
The inadequate adherence of patients whose hyperlipidemia is treated with atorvastatin (ATR) to medical instructions presents a serious health risk. Our aim was to develop a flexible approach based on therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), nonparametric ...

CosmoPMC: Cosmology Population Monte Carlo

open access: yes, 2011
We present the public release of the Bayesian sampling algorithm for cosmology, CosmoPMC (Cosmology Population Monte Carlo). CosmoPMC explores the parameter space of various cosmological probes, and also provides a robust estimate of the Bayesian evidence.

Trends in Dermatopolymyositis Mortality, 1999–2022: A Nationwide Population‐Based Study, United States

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
We report the national burden of dermatopolymyositis mortality over the past quarter century using the US national vital statistics data. Age‐standardized mortality rates for dermatopolymyositis decreased at an annual rate of 3.8% each year, which was higher than the annual percent decrease for deaths from all other causes.

A reappraisal of carbapenems dosing in febrile neutropenic patients

open access: yesJournal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance
Objective: This study aims to optimize carbapenem dosing strategies in febrile neutropenic (FN) patients by evaluating the probability of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) target attainment (PTA) using Monte Carlo simulations based on published ...

Global and Regional Temporal Changes in Cross‐Country Inequalities of Site‐Specific Osteoarthritis Burden, 1990 to 2021

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study examined the global and regional temporal changes in cross‐country inequalities of site‐specific osteoarthritis (OA) burden from 1990 to 2021. Methods Age‐standardized years lived with disability rates (ASYRs) for site‐specific OA across 204 countries and territories were obtained from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and ...

Evolution of population with sexual and asexual reproduction in changing environment

open access: yes, 2003
Using a lattice model based on Monte Carlo simulations, we study the role of the reproduction pattern on the fate of an evolving population. Each individual is under the selection pressure from the environment and random mutations. The habitat ("climate")

Smarter Sensors Through Machine Learning: Historical Insights and Emerging Trends across Sensor Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights how machine learning (ML) algorithms are employed to enhance sensor performance, focusing on gas and physical sensors such as haptic and strain devices. By addressing current bottlenecks and enabling simultaneous improvement of multiple metrics, these approaches pave the way toward next‐generation, real‐world sensor applications.

Small area estimation in the case of nonesponse

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2009
In this paper the effect of model and nonresponseadjustment on different types of estimators for the totals of small area domains is examined. The empirical results are based on Monte Carlo simulations with repeated samples drawn from a finite population

Population Monte Carlo With Normalizing Flow

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters
Adaptive importance sampling (AIS) methods provide a useful alternative to Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms for performing inference of intractable distributions. Population Monte Carlo (PMC) algorithms constitute a family of AIS approaches which adapt the proposal distributions iteratively to improve the approximation of the target ...
