Cadmium accumulation and tolerance in Populus nigra and Salix alba

open access: yesBiologia plantarum, 2011
Rooted cuttings of Populus nigra L. clone Poli and Salix alba L. clone SS5 were treated for three weeks with 50 ?M CdSO4 in nutrient solution. The willow showed a far higher Cd tolerance, expressed as tolerance index (Ti), than the poplar in both roots and leaves.

GC-MS Analysis of Compounds Extracted from Buds of Populus balsamifera and Populus nigra

open access: yesZeitschrift Fur Naturforschung - Section C Journal of Biosciences, 2003
Abstract The composition of hexane and ether extracts from buds of two poplar species (Populus balsamifera and P. nigra) was investigated by GC-MS method. In hexane extracts, 54 “neutral” compounds were recorded. The greatest amounts of them are sesquiterpenes and nalkanes. Among 56 components of ether extracts, many aliphatic acids and

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi affect the expression of PxNHX gene family, improve photosynthesis and promote Populus simonii×P. nigra growth under saline-alkali stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
IntroductionSaline-alkali stress seriously endangers the normal growth of Populus simonii×P. nigra. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi can enhance the saline-alkali tolerance of plants by establishing a symbiotic relationship with them.MethodsIn this ...
