New records of intersexuality in porcelain crabs (Crustacea: Decapoda: Anomura: Porcellanidae) [PDF]
The occurrence of intersex specimens of Lissoporcellana quadrilobata (Miers, 1884), Pisidia bluteli (Risso, 1816) and Pisidia longimana (Risso, 1816) is recorded for the first time and their secondary sexual characters analyzed.

Integrative Phylogenetic and Morphological Analyses Reveal Two New Species of Porcellanid Crabs and Resurrect Porcellanella picta Stimpson, 1858 (Decapoda: Porcellanidae). [PDF]
This study uses integrative phylogenetic and morphological analyses to clarify the taxonomy of Porcellanella crabs, revealing four distinct species. The authors resurrect Porcellanella picta as a valid species and describe two new species from Australia (P. brevidentata n. sp. and P. longiloba n. sp.).

Molecular Evaluation of the Mating Dynamics of Snow Crab (Chionoecetes opilio) in the Eastern Bering Sea. [PDF]
Most snow crab females in the eastern Bering Sea had stored sperm from one or two mates. While single paternity was common, some females had clutches sired by two males. Female snow crab primarily mated with male snow crab, with few instances of interspecies mating.

Genome assemblies of two species of porcelain crab, Petrolisthes cinctipes and Petrolisthes manimaculis (Anomura: Porcellanidae). [PDF]
Abstract Crabs are a large subtaxon of the Arthropoda, the most diverse and species-rich metazoan group. Several outstanding questions remain regarding crab diversification, including about the genomic capacitors of physiological and morphological adaptation, that cannot be answered with available genomic resources.

Historical Demography and Species Distribution Models Shed Light on Speciation in Primates of Northeast India. [PDF]
Northeast India's diverse geography has created numerous niches, promoting species evolution, with past climate change playing a significant role in primate speciation. Using climate modeling and genomic data, we studied the demographic history of nine primate species, revealing that climate fluctuations during the Pliocene and Pleistocene influenced ...

Abstract Climate change manifests unevenly across space and time and produces complex patterns of stress for ecological systems. Species can also show substantial among‐population variability in response to environmental change across their geographic range due to evolutionary processes.

Catching crabs: a case study in local-scale English conservation [PDF]
Wells-next-the-Sea and Cromer in Norfolk (England) both rely upon their local crab populations, since crabbing (gillying) is a major part of their tourist industry.

The role of refuges in biological invasions: A systematic review
Abstract Aim Ecological refuges buffer organisms against stressors and mediate a range of species interactions. However, their role in the context of biological invasions has yet to be synthesized, despite the increasing prevalence and impact of non‐native species.

Flight or fight: flexible antipredatory strategies in porcelain crabs [PDF]
Autotomy, the voluntary shedding of limbs or other body parts in the face of predation, is a highly effective escape mechanism that has evolved independently in a variety of taxa. Crabs are unusual in that the limb that is typically sacrificed during autotomy, the anterior clawed cheliped, can also be used to ward off attack. During an encounter with a

Abstract Despite the popularity of recreational fishing, our understanding of the impacts of this type of harvest within marine ecosystems generally lags behind the well‐documented effects of commercial fisheries. Intertidal oysters serve as ecosystem engineers within otherwise soft‐bottom estuaries but may be disproportionately susceptible to harvest ...
