PROTECTIVE TREATMENTS FOR LAPPED PORCELAIN STONEWARE TILES AND EVALUATION OF THEIR CLEANABILITY [PDF]

open access: yesCeramics - Silikaty, 2017
Since the arrival of lapped porcelain stoneware tiles on the market, several studies have been focused on the improvement of the technical characteristics of the surfaces of these products. Surface lapping induces aesthetical improvements, but can at the same time deteriorate the performance of porcelain stoneware tiles. To overcome this problem, it is

Processing of porcelain stoneware tile using sugarcane bagasse ash waste

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2015
Large amounts of waste materials are discarded in the sugarcane industry. This work investigates the reuse of sugarcane bagasse ash waste as an alternative raw material for porcelain stoneware tile bodies, replacing natural quartz by up to 5 wt.%. The tile pieces were fired at 1230 ?C using a fast-firing cycle (< 60min).

Analysis of the Environmental Compatibility of the Use of Porcelain Stoneware Tiles Manufactured with Waste Incineration Bottom Ash

open access: yesCeramics
In line with circular economy principles and the reduction of primary material exploitation, waste-to-energy (WtE) by-products such as bottom ash (BA) are increasingly being used as raw materials in cement and ceramics manufacturing.
